Coding is for everyone!
I am thrilled to offer local coding classes in Southwest Michigan. CodeSWM classes use fun tools designed specifically to teach coding to kids. Join us to learn coding and critical thinking skills while completing fun robotics challenges or designing your own 2D game.
I have taught coding for many years to learners of all ages (elementary school up to college level courses). In my experience, elementary and middle school students are very excited to learn coding with age appropriate tools. My hope is that I can grow this program to be able to offer all upper elementary and middle school students a chance to learn coding.
Learn to code while completing fun challenges using dash and dot robots. These robots are very engaging and kids love working with them.
Coding with Dash and Dot Robots
- Mondays 1:30-2:30 (July 8th, 15th and 22nd)
- Tuesday/Thursday 12:30-2 (July 9th and 11th)
- Tuesday/Thursday 2:30-4 (July 16th and 18th)
- Wednesday/Friday 12:30-2 (July 24th and 26th)
Advanced Coding with Dash and Dot Robots
Learn to build and program robots with adafruit’s circuit playground express and/or microbit. We will learn to program in make code and javascript.
Registration open for July classes!
Learn 2D game design using a platform designed by MIT to teach kids to code. Kids will learn to create their own games to share with family and friends.

Miss Katie has 15+ years of experience as a volunteer in local school districts working in STEM education. She has 15+ years of professional coding experience as a bioinformatician (in industry and academia) and 5+ years as a college instructor. Miss Katie has taught coding to many students, ranging from 2nd graders to graduate students. She is excited to offer local coding classes in our beautiful southwest Michigan community. She has two kids who love all things STEM related (a 4th grader and a 7th grader) and a crazy golden retriever who sometimes tries to steal the robots (dash and dot do look remarkably like some of her toys).
